Importance of Hydration

Drinking water and staying hydrated is a necessity in our everyday lives. It helps with regulating body temperature, keeping joints lubricated, preventing infections, delivering nutrients to cells, and keeping organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves your sleep quality, cognitive functions, and mood. It is recommended for men to drink 15.5 cups of water a day, and women 11 cups. You can stay hydrated from beverages other than water; drinks like Propel and Gatorade are good drinks to have after being physically active. When we exercise, we sweat and lose fluids in our bodies. We need to replace them, so drinking water and hydrating after activity helps replenish our nutrients.  It helps if you are gradually drinking water throughout your day, as well!

Club Baseball Vs Bryant

Today, the SRU Club baseball team traveled to Cortland to participate in the fall invitational. Our first game was against Bryant, who is the #1-ranked team in Division 2 club. Bryant went up 2-0 in the first inning, but in the 3rd inning, I hit a sacrifice fly to put us on the board. Bryant would end up scoring 2 more runs to make it a 4-1 final. The pitching was great for SRU, and the same can be said for Bryant. Overall, a great game for SRU, hanging in there with the top team in D2.

Eating Healthy on campus.

Always eating healthy and following a strict diet is a very hard skill to have, especially in college. Being a college student, it is hard to always find time to make yourself a nice, healthy meal, so I am going to be telling you about some of the places on campus you can stop by and grab a healthy snack or meal. To start, Clean Plate in Weisenfluh, has some great options to choose from. They have many different bowls, ranging from pasta, protein bowls and acai bowls. They also have a good assortment of salads and smoothies. The next place is Boozel, in the salad bar, where there is a variety of toppings and healthy options to put on your salad. Boozel also has good choices when it comes to fruit during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The last place is Rocky's in the Student Center, as many different restaurants in there provide healthy food options. If you are looking to get some protein in your meal, you can stop at Limon and Chile and get a nice bowl with ground beef or chicken. I...

Ways to stay active during bad weather on campus.

In the upcoming weeks, the weather is going to change a lot, especially since we are in PA. You never know what you're going to get, some days it will be 75 and sunny, and the next day will be 40 and windy. Finding motivation to get out and be physically active in this weather can be very challenging, but here are some easy ways to do that on campus. The first thing that probably comes to all of our minds is the ARC. There are weights, treadmills, bikes, a track, a pool, and basketball courts. Another way to be active is if you live at the University Village. They have a nice little gym with weights, a cable machine, benches, a squat rack, treadmills, and bikes. If you are the type of person who wants to stay in and be active, you could always do at-home workouts in your dorm or apartment. You could do a combination of these exercises: pushups, sit-ups, planks, squats, pullups, burpees, mountain climbers, and lunges, to name a few. Staying physically active is key to living well. I...
