Importance of Hydration
Drinking water and staying hydrated is a necessity in our everyday lives. It helps with regulating body temperature, keeping joints lubricated, preventing infections, delivering nutrients to cells, and keeping organs functioning properly. Being well-hydrated also improves your sleep quality, cognitive functions, and mood. It is recommended for men to drink 15.5 cups of water a day, and women 11 cups. You can stay hydrated from beverages other than water; drinks like Propel and Gatorade are good drinks to have after being physically active. When we exercise, we sweat and lose fluids in our bodies. We need to replace them, so drinking water and hydrating after activity helps replenish our nutrients. It helps if you are gradually drinking water throughout your day, as well!
Hi Carter! I personally struggle with drinking water, despite the fact that I am completely aware of its benefits. I struggle to remember most of the time, but also, the water at SRU tastes so bad, and I can't bring myself to drink it. I always end up with a Dr. Pepper in my hand. I have been trying to get better with drinking water, and I know for a fact I will feel so much better once I get into the swing of it. Thank you for giving all of these facts, I will keep them in the back of my mind next time I go to drink my 5th pop of the day.
ReplyDeleteHey carter! I definitely agree that hydration is a key to our overall health. It's so vital for us to start straying away from beverages with such high sugar with ingredients that we can't even read. Although its hard it's something we really should strive for.
